Mark observations on a drawing
Surveyors can now attach a floor plan, schematic or site photo to a survey session and drop a pin on it for each observation. The finished report shows that drawing with a numbered marker per observation and a legend naming them.
It answers the question a client always asks next: where?
What's new
- Attach sheets on the phone. In form mode, the new Sheets section takes a photo, an image from the gallery, or a PDF — each page of which becomes its own pinnable sheet, up to 40 pages.
- Or from your laptop. The session's Sheets card in the browser has an Attach sheet button, so a drawing that arrived by email doesn't have to be moved onto the phone first — and a bin to remove one, under the same rule: a sheet with pins on it is not deleted until they are cleared.
- A Location pin field type. Template administrators drag Location pin into the group that holds the observations. Set it required and the survey can't be completed until every observation is pinned.
- A full-screen placement view. Pinch to zoom into a dense A1 drawing, line the crosshair up on the spot, and tap Place pin here. Other observations' pins are shown too, so you can space them out.
- Or place them in the browser. Back at the office, the pin field on the web form has Place pin and Move pin too: click the spot, drag the marker to nudge it, or use the arrow keys for a fine correction on a big screen.
- Numbered figures in the report. Each pinned drawing appears in the designed report as a figure with a legend. Where an observation has a survey finding, the legend picks up its classification and severity automatically.
- Works offline. Image sheets can be added and pinned on with no connection; everything syncs when the signal returns.
Where to look
- On the phone: open a survey in form mode and scroll to Sheets.
- In the template builder: the Location pin field in the palette.
- In the report design: Advanced → Drawings and pins → Show sheet figures (on by default).
- On the web: the Sheets card on the session — Attach sheet and View — and View, Place pin and Move pin on any pin field.
Every part of this now works in both places: attach on site or at your desk, pin with a thumb or with a mouse.
